Meet our Rabbi
Rabbi Uriel Suliman is a certified Mohel, Sofer, and a professional Hazzan. Born and raised in Israel, he studied Hazzanut and Rabbinical leadership at the Shehebar Sephardic Center (SSC) in Jerusalem under Rabbi Sam Kassin. Rabbi Uriel began his journey at the Kenisa in 2011 as a Hazzan, later becoming its rabbi. Prior to his move to the United States, he spent five years on short-term missions supporting Jewish communities around the world, including in Greece, China, Bulgaria, the United States, Thailand, and Hong Kong.
When he first joined our community, Rabbi Uriel was unmarried. Since then, he has built a family with his wife, Marcelle, and together they are raising five children.
In 2016, Rabbi Uriel received his Semikha (rabbinical ordination) from Rabbi Eliyahu Ben Haim, the Sephardic Av Bet Din of America, affiliated with Yeshiva University. He became a certified marriage officiant in 2018 and received his certification as a Mohel in 2022.
Rabbi Uriel speaks Hebrew, English, Arabic and Spanish.
